Density refers to the mass of an explosive per unit
of volume, usually expressed in grams per cubic centimeter
or pounds per cubic foot.
Density is an important
characteristic of an explosive. Raising the density
(i.e. by pressing or casting) improves brisance and
detonating velocity.
The density of a substance is
its mass per unit volume. Because many substances,
especially gases, can be compressed into a smaller
volume by increasing the pressure on them, the temperature
and pressure at which the density is measured are
usually specified.
