that is very rapid chemical transformation, forming
other more stable products entirely or largely gaseous,
whose combined volume is much greater than that of
the original substance.
Explosives are classified
as high-explosive or low-explosive, according to the
rate of transformation. Any chemical compound, mixture,
or device, the primary common purpose of which is
to function by explosion.
